What FemtoLASIK is
ما هو؟
FemtoLASIK is laser vision correction in which the corneal flap is created by a femtosecond laser instead of a mechanical microkeratome blade. A computer-guided, ultra-precise laser prepares the flap; the cornea underneath is then reshaped to correct your refractive error, and the flap is laid back in place.
كيف يعمل
Because no blade contacts the eye, the flap thickness is highly consistent and more corneal tissue is preserved. Numbing eye drops are the only anesthetic — you arrive, receive the treatment, and walk out the same day.
Why FemtoLASIK
Not all laser eye surgery is created equal. FemtoLASIK is the blade-free standard — and at LERC, we have been performing it since it first became available in the UAE.
-
01Blade-free precision
An ultra-precise femtosecond laser creates the flap — no scalpel, no blade, no mechanical instrument ever contacts your eye. Zero risk of blade-related complications.
-
02Under 7 minutes per eye
Walk-in, walk-out treatment the same day. No hospital stay, no general anesthesia.
-
03Ultra-fast recovery
Less surface disruption than blade-based LASIK means a smoother, faster healing process and less post-op discomfort. Most patients notice dramatically improved vision within 24 hours.
-
04Computer-guided accuracy
Automatic flap-thickness adjustment, real-time eye tracking, and wavefront-guided correction calibrate every treatment to the unique anatomy of your eye.
-
05Lower complication profile
Clinical data associate femtosecond flap creation with a lower risk of dry eye, halos, and flap complications than mechanical microkeratome LASIK.
-
06More tissue preserved
The laser-controlled flap preserves more corneal tissue than a mechanical blade — which matters for long-term corneal strength.
How the day goes
You arrive, receive the treatment, and walk out the same day — no hospital stay, no general anesthesia.

1
Pre-operative assessment
Corneal mapping, pupil dilation, and refraction measurement confirm your suitability. We never proceed unless we are confident it is the right procedure for your eye.
المدة: 30–45 minutes
-
2
Numbing eye drops
Topical anesthetic only — no injections, no general anesthetic. Most patients describe the sensation as mild pressure for a few seconds at most.
المدة: 5 minutes
-
3
Blade-free flap creation
The femtosecond laser creates the corneal flap with a highly consistent, computer-controlled thickness.
المدة: Seconds per eye
-
4
Corneal reshaping
The cornea is reshaped according to your wavefront-guided treatment profile, with real-time eye tracking keeping the treatment centered.
المدة: Under 7 minutes per eye total
-
5
Flap repositioning and discharge
The flap is laid back in place and self-seals — no stitches. After a short check you go home the same day.
المدة: Same day
Am I a candidate for FemtoLASIK?
Most adults over 18 with stable vision and adequate corneal thickness are good candidates. The pre-operative assessment — corneal mapping, pupil dilation, and refraction measurement — confirms your suitability.
مرشحون مناسبون
- Adults over 18 with stable vision
- Adequate corneal thickness (confirmed by corneal mapping at the assessment)
- Distance-vision problems: myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism
- Current promotional offer: patients under 40 with distance vision issues only
قد لا يكون مناسباً
- Unstable (changing) prescription
- Inadequate corneal thickness — confirmed at the assessment, not guessed
- Patients whose primary problem is age-related reading vision (presbyopia) — that is a natural process FemtoLASIK does not prevent
For patients with multifocal issues (distance + reading), other procedures are available at LERC — the eye test will identify the right fit. We never proceed unless we are confident FemtoLASIK is the right procedure for your eye.
Every surgery has risks. Here they are honestly.
FemtoLASIK replaces the mechanical blade with a femtosecond laser, which lowers — but does not eliminate — the risks associated with flap-based laser surgery. Below is what the LERC team discusses in your assessment as part of informed consent — not a substitute for it.
شائع وقصير المدى
- Mild irritation or a temporary gritty sensation for a few hours after the procedure — resolves quickly for most patients.
- Dry eye in the first weeks — clinical data associate FemtoLASIK with a lower dry-eye risk than microkeratome LASIK, but it still occurs; managed with lubricating drops.
- Halos or glare around lights at night in the early weeks, improving as the cornea settles.
- Fluctuating vision until full stabilisation, typically within 4–6 weeks.
نادر لكن جدي
- Flap-related complications (displacement, wrinkles, epithelial ingrowth) — less frequent with femtosecond flap creation than with a blade, and usually managed without long-term effect when caught early.
- Under-correction or over-correction requiring an enhancement procedure.
- Infection — very rare; managed with prophylactic antibiotics and sterile single-use instruments.
- Ectasia (progressive corneal weakening) — rare; the corneal-mapping workup screens for this, which is why we never proceed on inadequate corneal thickness.
Specific risks for your eyes — based on your prescription, corneal thickness, tear film, and lifestyle — are reviewed in writing before surgery. The pre-operative assessment is free and carries no obligation.
What patients can expect
FemtoLASIK permanently reshapes the cornea to correct your current prescription, and the vast majority of patients maintain their corrected vision long-term. Age-related changes (such as presbyopia after age 40) are a natural process that affects all eyes regardless of whether you have had laser surgery.

No. Numbing eye drops are applied before the procedure, and most patients describe the sensation as mild pressure for a few seconds at most. The entire treatment is completed in under 7 minutes per eye. Post-procedure, some patients experience mild irritation or a temporary gritty sensation for a few hours, which resolves quickly.

Most patients notice a significant improvement in vision within 24 hours of the procedure. Many report being able to read and use their phone clearly by the evening of the same day. Full stabilisation of vision typically occurs within 4–6 weeks, though most patients achieve their final prescription within the first week.

Traditional LASIK uses a mechanical microkeratome blade to create the corneal flap. FemtoLASIK replaces this entirely with a femtosecond laser — a computer-guided, ultra-precise instrument. This results in a more predictable flap thickness, lower risk of dry eyes and complications, and a smoother healing process. At LERC, we only offer the femtosecond method.

The offer covers the complete FemtoLASIK procedure for both eyes, including your pre-operative assessment, the laser treatment itself, and all post-operative follow-up visits. There are no hidden charges. The standard price is AED 7,000. Limited availability, so book your consultation to secure the price.
